Gone fishing Well, not really ... OK, the fish may be more than willing in this weather; but I'm not. Yikes, it's still raining cats and dogs -nothing about fish in that expression- But as things look now, I may need to fly back to RL within the next few hours :-( Party of 5 headed W-NW 14.05.2005 Anyway, I even managed to find me a 'paying load' on saturday, when heading out to 'the country'... Found me a group of 5 wanting to go out to the same cabin they were last year; only thing is : they couldn't remember which cabin or where it was -city bums I guess ;-) Hence the subtitle 'party of 5 headed W-NW'. That's OK, at some extra cost -some:-) - I told them I could fly them in the 'general direction' they point and try to find that spot ... even though the weather wasn't that good: low clouds, enough rain and far from zero wind. Only thing they remember -as far as I can make it- is that back then they left in a westerly direction... maybe slightly NW, but not to much to the North... OK, so I told them there's a decent number of cabins and resorts that way and I could just try and fly along most of them, on our way to Sabourin Lake. Like: Pipestone Bay? -nope ... Douglas and Domain Lakes? -nah, don't think so ... Larus Lake? -wow, looks nice; but it wasn't this one either ... Right, so we finally ended at the Sabourin Lake resort; they thought it looked like it; but who am I to care about that :-) No worries, I did enjoy it; aside form the humm and yaggady-yag in the back, I had my tape deck running... and that sounded like -check 'desole' in the various folder at the ftp site- Great when flying 'in-country'! :-) After dropping the party of 5 off at Sabourin Lake I pushed on for Joe's, as planned, for some time off; fishing and such. Now, whenever you want to have a sample of Joseph's special stock, just go play something like this for him ... he'll just shove aside the 'normal' canadian, stroll down to the cupboard and come back with one of those bottles of great irish malt :-) No, we didn't get up early on sunday wonder why? That's your guess :-) So, by the time we were out, we decided to fit the floats to his old Beaver, for a fishing trip to Job Lake... Right, it was not raining then, but by he time we were finished it was pouring again :-( So, we opted for the typical 'back home fishing': get down to the lake shore, cast the lines, 'plant' the rod in a support, get back up to the porch and enjoy a good mug of coffee ... chit-chat a bit and see if the fish are awake ... Great when you have the monday off too; but then comes monday late afternoon and the eminent trip back to busy and stressful Red Lake.
