Temporary parrot pub" visit

Still working on the evacuation of Hemp heights...

...I was frequently flying close to Sixtus B and Paradise Beach. At a certain point, the desire to have a quiet moment, a decent chat and a nice view was bigger than the urge to save as much of the infrastructure and the botanical diversity. And as we all know, some rest is actually increasing the efficiency of a pilot, so the plan was made: meet up with Cpt. Brick and anyone available from the remaining active dESPair crew. So, I made radio contact with Brick and flew with my good old Waterpipe to Sixtus B, where we wanted to meet and move together to Paradise Beach. Take off from Hemp Heights, in VFR and very smooth conditions to Sixtus B. Touch down, taxiing to the ramp and meet Brick who was already waiting in his Broussard. He was obviously working on the movable ramp at his plane. Looks like he prepares for further cargo drops. I still don't know if I should like that prospect...

Just a few minutes later we were both up in the air, Brick leading, me trailing, heading towards Paradise Beach:

Arrived at Paradise Beach, taxied to the hangar, shut off the engines and secured the planes.

When we walked over to the car rental service station, it quickly became clear they failed blatantly! No car at hand. No motorbike, no trike, not even two decent bicycles... And we came here to have a lazy time at the "Temporary Parrot Pub" ! So... what can we do?

Well, a dESPairado can land alsmot everywhere. And next to the Parrot pub there was a stretch of road that should be fine enough for a STOL landing... So it meant: back to the planes, engine on, and off we go for the cross country trip...

Again, it was Brick who took the lead, me closely following behind him. Just a few minutes to fly, so it was a busy time: take off procecdure and immediately preparing to land.

Landing was ok, though not really relaxing. Driving up there with a car would certainly have cost us less nerves... but it worked and the Pub owner was ready to serve us a cold pint just minutes after we parked our planes.

Two more shots from the scene...

The temporary parrot is certainly a nice replacment for the original parrot pub...

An overview of the pub's location. If you find some time, you need to get up there. Nice view, very tranquil. We had a good time chatting there for a while, and now my batteries feel recharged for the next round of Hemp Heights evacuation flights.

Thanks goes to Cpt. Brick, who scouted me up there. It was another nice networked flight in the best dESPair manner!

Cpt. Hak
