SITREP II

Fellow nomads.

I am back from the Red Deer > Grist Lake chemo cargo flight, and
a visit of the accident site. Here's the latest news, and a few pics
from the latter flight.

The booms have arrived and are curretly being installed by the experts and some helping hands. As you can see, the truck is still smoking, but the situation is more or less under controll. The booms are not yet finally placed, but it begins to look ok.

We have now a total of 38 birds waiting to be transported to Ellies
farm near Red Lake. Anyone able to perform that flight?

I have unloaded the chemical cargo next to a truck who brough half of the substances to the site. The other part is waiting near the hangar to be loaded into the CL-215.

The plan is to spray the chemicals over the now circled oil on the lake. The substances do two things: first, they disperse the oil, so it can sink to the ground and also being metabolized by micro organisms. The second load will bind the oil at the surface soil, so it doesn't migrate deeper into the ground next to the lake border.

So, I will open a new mission with at least four jobs - all of them
spray jobs with the CL-215. Drop the chemicals. We will be taking pictures to judge the targeting accuracy...

Things don't look grim, but we have no time to waste anyway. The birds need help, and the chemicals need to be applied before stronger winds begin to mix the oil into deeper layers of the lake water!

So far, you did all a good job. Hopefully we can get the next jobs done equally well!

Clear sky!
